Starcraft Movie

Starcraft Live Action MovieBlizzard revealed that they've been considering to do a Starcraft movie for a while but that they're still looking for the right partners (director and actors) to develop the film.

For those who don't know, Starcraft is a popular military science fiction real-time strategy video game. Set in the 26th century, the story revolves around three species fighting for dominance in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy: the Terrans, humans exiled from Earth skilled at adapting to any situation; the Zerg, a race of insectoid aliens in pursuit of genetic perfection obsessed with assimilating other races; and the Protoss, a humanoid species with advanced technology and psionic abilities, attempting to preserve their civilization and strict philosophical way of living from the Zerg.

Let's watch the opening cinematic intro of the first opus of Starcraft:

Here's what Blizzard's Rob Pardo said about the potential Starcraft movie:

"We've always had an interest in seeing our stuff on film or TV. It's just tricky to find the right partners. We probably could have made a 'StarCraft' movie or something on TV years and years ago, but it's really important to us that we find creative people that are really talented but also really excited about our properties. That's always been the challenge for us. I think if Jim Cameron came to us tomorrow and said, 'You want to make a 'StarCraft' movie?' we'd probably sign that."

A high caliber director, Sam Raimi, is involved in adapting another Blizzard's property, World of Warcraft, into a movie. So Blizzard could well bring another to helm Starcraft. James Cameron is a buzy man though, and I doubt he would leave Avatar for Starcraft...

So who do you think could helm this Starcraft movie? And do you want the film to be live action or full CGI?
:)
